What it costs, and what it is worth
One address, one date, nineteen euros. Here is what that buys, what the free check already gives you, and what the alternative costs.
Free, and enough to decide with
The strongest gust measured near the address that day, with the station that measured it and how far away it stands.
Whether that gust reached wind force 8 — 62 km/h — which is the threshold standard German building-insurance conditions name.
The whole day's trace at the nearest station, and every station in range with its distance and reading.
No account, no card, no limit on how many addresses you check.
Nineteen euros, and what the money adds
The rain measured that day at the nearest gauges — the day's total and the heaviest hour.
Hail observations from the stations that were watching, with the time and the observation code.
A ten-year comparison at the nearest station: where this day ranks among every day it ever measured.
An appendix naming every archive file each figure was read from, as a link that opens.
A PDF in your language, and a public page where anyone — an insurer, a lawyer — can check the document against its hash without trusting you.
What the alternative costs
A commissioned weather report from the incumbent German provider runs from about €75 to over €230, and arrives in days.
A loss adjuster's opinion about the damage itself is a different product entirely, and starts in the hundreds. This does not replace it — it settles the part of the argument that is about the weather, so the rest of the conversation can be about your roof.
The measurements themselves are public. What is sold here is the reading of them: the right file for the right day at the right station, printed with its own provenance and a way to check it.
When we refuse the sale
If the nearest station that records gusts is more than 25 kilometres from the address, no record is sold about that address. Across Germany that distance is a median 11.6 km, but it is over 25 km for about one home in fourteen.
If the archives hold nothing for that address and date, there is nothing to sell and you are not charged.
If the gust that day was below the threshold, the free check says so plainly, and the buy button is quieted rather than shouted. A record documenting a gust below force 8 rarely helps a claim, and we would rather say it before the money moves.
